Apple picking

Apple picking posed a great opportunity this weekend for me to take these 2 great photos. I took 7 photos from different angles and i think i like the verticle one the best. It shows all the other apples up the tree. I really like the light behind the apples and felt like both of these photos were very festive. The verticle angle shows more detail because the tree is taller and the apples are more plentiful higher up the tree. I love the sunlight glistening on the leaves making them look transparent.
I do like the horizontal shot as well but it is more focused on a couple of apples; the other has more to offer the eye. I'm surprised i was able to find such a perfect apple to photograph.

  1. Now that's Vermont in September! Great choice for your subject! I like the vertical shot more too....you did a great job conveying the height of the tree and what great apples are there for the taking....if the viewer only had a ladder!

  2. I love the apple shots. I went apple picking last weekend and tried to get something similar but couldn't quite capture what I wanted to. You nailed it and I also like the vertical.

  3. Very nice example of a perspective study. When we get to composition in a couple weeks you will note the technique which makes the top one so effective!
