Portrait..
Monday, November 2, 2009
This is my first altered photo i used the Hue Saturation buttons to change the yellow leaves to a darker orange as well as all the other colors to different shades.
This is the original photo.
This is a photo of flower outside of my house. Again i used the Hue/saturation feature to drastically change the colors in this photo. At one time i had all the magenta color here in a bright yellow.. like that too!!
I also wanted to add that i tried to alter a photo of my family but found it very difficult to alter the photo without making it look funny. I found this assignment easier with close ups.. and landscapes.

Landscapes
Landscapes are one of the things that i have enjoyed the most in photography. I am amazed that since i started taking this class my eyes have been opened to all the beauty that has surrounded me for so long. The one thing that struck me from the reading on the Mass institue of tech webpage was the statement of landscapes being a passive backdrop to human theater. That is how they were, in my life, for so long. I never appreciated the scenery around me until now. I think i irritate my husband because i am constantly stopping on the side of the road to catch a good shot. I find myself taking different paths to the same old location just looking for that spectacular shot!! I think i have really captured some great photos recently.

framed slideshow
So i just had to tell everyone that i went to my dads alpaca farm to take my photos and the wind and cold was tough to handle. The wind made tears roll down my cheeks!! Some of my photos were not as steady as i had wanted but they still came out really good. too bad i couldnt get a copy of the air and send it along with the photos!!

Composition Technique
After doing a search i found a site www.digicamhelp.com/taking-photos/advance-techniques/composing-photos/. This site outlined many composition techniques as well as giving photo examples of them. I really like the contrast rule or back light, and the S curve. Contrast is where the lighting is in the back and the subjects are like silhouettes and the S curve is where the subject has a s curve in it. This is common in streams and roads. These make for pictures that are pleasing to the eye. I enjoyed being able to see pictures with several of these elements in them..

Light comparisons...
This picture was taken in the afternoon inbetween the sun. It seems like it came out nice and i like the background with all the green shades.
This picture was taken first thing in the morning. I love the little dew drops on the petals of the flower. The light first thing in the morning seems to be the same as a cloudy day.
this is a unique night shot and by far i think its my favorite of the three. This took me a long time to get. I kept getting dark photos and blurry ones too. I love the black backdrop and the color shades that come out with the camera flash. Believe it or not it is the same flower as above, i must have hit just the right angle for this one...

Complimentary
I took this picture during macro shooting last week and captured these opposite colors together in nature. I love the contrast between the green and the red. In fact this is probably why we find flowers so beautiful because there is always a green color next to other bright colors and the contrast helps to make a perfect view.

Flies in the sun
Macro Collage
Okay so this was about the most fun i've had with a camera in a long time. I love taking photos in this mode. I spent most of the last 2 sunny fall days playing with my camera outside. I took many pictures of fall items such as corn stalks, squash, apples, and leaves. My collage came out very colorful and I am really happy with how spunky it looks.

Apple picking
Apple picking posed a great opportunity this weekend for me to take these 2 great photos. I took 7 photos from different angles and i think i like the verticle one the best. It shows all the other apples up the tree. I really like the light behind the apples and felt like both of these photos were very festive. The verticle angle shows more detail because the tree is taller and the apples are more plentiful higher up the tree. I love the sunlight glistening on the leaves making them look transparent.
I do like the horizontal shot as well but it is more focused on a couple of apples; the other has more to offer the eye. I'm surprised i was able to find such a perfect apple to photograph.
